Ingredients:
1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
1 ½ cups sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
1 T lemon juice
Instructions:
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt until well combined.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add the eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well blended.
Pour Into Crust: Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.
Add Nutmeg (Optional): Sprinkle a light dusting of ground nutmeg on top for extra flavor.
Bake: Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. The center should jiggle slightly but not be liquidy.
Cool: Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
